Panic Shack: You don’t need permission to make kickass music.
If you’ve caught Panic Shack live before, you probably left with sore feet, a grin plastered to your face and at least one lyric stuck in your head.
And if you haven’t yet… well, you’re about to find out why this Cardiff crew is such a perfect fit for Boomtown’s beautifully chaotic playground.
Panic Shack started in 2018 as a four-piece punk rock band who got fed up with music feeling like a “members-only club”, especially one dominated by old blokes fussing over guitar pedals.
Their songs are a mix of snarling riffs and cheeky charm. It’s like someone bottled up the energy of a house party, gave it a leather jacket, and let it loose onstage.
Tracks like I Don’t Really Like It and Who’s Got My Lighter? blend big hooks with a playful spirit that’s irresistible live. It’s punk with a wink, a shout, and a hearty laugh.
Panic Shack built much of their rep through pure live power. Word spread fast around the UK punk and indie scenes thanks to explosive shows that are more like raucous nights out with your mates than gigs.
That raw energy has taken them from sticky-floored venues in Cardiff to big festival stages - including Boomtown.
In 2022, they dropped their debut EP Baby Shack, a quick shot of their live chaos bottled into six tracks.
The real evolution came with their self-titled full-length in 2025, an album that still throbs with anarchic punk energy but broadens their sound with harmonies, synths, and even the occasional trumpet twist.7
They’re bold, inclusive, mischievous and never take themselves too seriously. Onstage, they create a feeling that you’re all in it together: shouting along, smashing expectations, and dancing like tomorrow doesn’t matter. That spirit of unfiltered fun and collective release? That’s exactly the kind of magic Boomtown thrives on.
So get ready. Whether you’re already a Shack devotee or meeting them for the first time in the dust and glitter, this set is going to feel like a riotous rallying cry.
One part punk rebellion, one part pure community sweat-fest, and absolutely unforgettable.
