Boomtown prides itself on the fantastic selection of food and market traders that attend our festival, with new and exciting things for the public to see, buy and eat every year! If you are a FOOD or MARKET trader please read the below information for everything you need to know about trading at Boomtown.
Boomtown is single use plastic FREE! This means that all food and drink serveware MUST BE COMPOSTABLE! If you are a market trader this also means absolutely no plastic bags given out to customers.
As a Boomtown trader you are joining our sustainability pledge, meaning that:
- All tea, coffee, cacao, sugar and bananas must be fairtrade
- Fruit and veg to be local and seasonal where possible
- All meat and dairy produce should be a minimum standard of British and free range, ideally locally sourced and organic where possible
- All fish must be sustainable and from the Marine Conservation Society’s (MCS) ‘Fish to Eat’ list
As part of our sustainability pledge all traders must pay an Ecobond for their pitch. This Ecobond is fully refundable if you leave your pitch clean and tidy. The trader management team will check all pitches on Monday and notify us to refund if your pitch if it has been left as you found it. We will aim to refund this to you in full within 1 week of the festival.

Traders - General
One of the most important things we look for in our traders is individuality and something that stands out! We want businesses with character that offer unique and fantastic quality goods - this goes for food and market traders!
We get hundreds of applications every year and it’s very competitive. To give yourself the best chance please put as much detail as you can into your application as possible to make it stand out.
Boomtown is a very hilly site so please be prepared and bring chocs incase you need to level your pitch. Your pitch must also be sturdy and prepared for all weather conditions.
All traders must have:
- Public liability insurance
- Health & safety documents (risk assessments, fire risk assessments, method statement etc)
- Gas safety certificate (when applicable)
- Food traders must be registered with the local authority and have a food hygiene rating
Every trader is assessed on a case by base basis. If you are successful in your application your pitch fee and any other costs will be detailed in your unique offer letter.
Traders - How to apply
The presentations and appearance of your stall is key, so it is vital that you include good photographs of your pitch when you submit your application. If there are no photographs, your application will not be considered.
Sourcing everything ethically is a top priority for Boomtown! Please include information about any sustainability credentials you have when you apply. Part of our sustainability mission is to increase our offering of veggie and vegan food, so please bear this in mind when putting in your applications. You will be asked to submit a sample menu in your application.
We will aim to have selected successful applicants by February 2020, but please bear with us as we have many applications to go through.
If you are successful you will be emailed a letter with your unique offer (this includes the pitch fees, trader T&C’s and all other info you will need). You must respond to this to accept the offer, then you will be sent an invoice for a deposit to secure your pitch.
Your must pay your deposit within 10 days of receiving the invoice or you risk losing your pitch.
Traders - Site
Traders can arrive to set up from Saturday 8th August.
The festival is open to the public from Wednesday 12th - Monday 17th August 2020, however all traders must be at their pitch and set up by Tuesday 11th by midday ready for H&S inspection.
The minimum trading hours each day are 10am-10pm, however for a successful event we recommend you have longer trading hours. If you wish to be open for 24 hours every day this absolutely fine.
Traders can not pack up and leave site until 16.00 on Monday 17th August. This is to allow for all public to leave the festival site first
When submitting your application you will be asked if you require any 16amp, 32amp or 3phase connections for your pitch. Please use due diligence when you book your power and only book what you need. If you oversize it means we run larger generators than required and create more CO2.
However, please be careful to not use more power than you have booked as this could cause power cuts in your trader run and affect other traders. In 2019 we monitored the power consumption for all the traders and plan to do it again in 2020.
We have a list of wholesale suppliers that run deliveries during the festival. You will be provided with this information and how to order from them nearer the time of the event.
No, you will be allocated a pitch by the Boomtown team.
You will be sent your pitch location and a site map a 2-3 weeks before the festival, along with all other information you will need about arriving on site. Please be patient for your pitch location, we cannot send your location sooner than this due to potential site changes
There are waste pens located behind each trader run, with general/DMR/food waste options.
Traders - Sustainability
If your application has been successful you will receive all the information you need about compostable serveware nearer the time of the festival.
No, we have a strict no glitter policy. Standard glitter is made from etched aluminium bonded to polyethylene terephthalate – a form of microplastic that can find its way into the oceans and pose a danger to people and animals. Bioglitter is only 92% plastic free so we ask everyone to use alternatives such as paints, reusable gems and flower petals etc.
