Taking citizens on a journey through an international underworld, our most immersive and challenging of districts has been revealed - DSTRKT 5. A post-apocalyptic soundtrack of drum & bass and jungle to compliment the districts own immersive storyline, here we get a stark glimpse into the harsh realities of our city's potential future, pushing every conceivable boundary - musically and theatrically.
Taking over the formidable Robotika with their distinct footwork flavour, Teklife Showcase come all the way from Chicago with sets from; DJ Taye, trailblazer of the sound and DJ Rashad’s prodigy, multi-instrumentalist and long term member Taso and elusive jukebox producer DJ Paypal. A force to be reckoned with, fathers of all things jungle, the Jungle Warriors will be shredding up the stage with formidable sets from; Shy FX mentor Potential BadBoy, Kenny Ken - legend of warehouse parties and early leaders of Ragga music Remarc and The Ragga Twins. Hailing from Brooklyn, pioneering hardance DJ Lenny Dee leads the line up at the Scrapyard, playing a world exclusive set alongside techno wax innovator The DJ Producer. Combining European FreeTek with Bristol soundsystem culture, the fresh sounds of Vandal are matched only with good time heavy vibes from Billx. Dutch duo The Outside Agency supply cutting edge hardcore techno whilst soundscapes tie together Maztek’s neurofunk inspired drum & bass and the UK’s No.1 hardcore label Deathchant Records Showcase Ft. Axe Gabba Murda Mob presents devious turntable tricks from crafty combo Bryan Fury & FishHell.
Stories of legends are produced on the streets of DSTRKT 5 with each hidden venue providing visitors with the most unexpected of journeys. Eyes can’t be trusted down at the Red Rash Inn where gender norms are flipped on their heads and every self identifying specimen is welcomed into the open arms of the fine establishment after a series of tantalizing, thought provoking cabarets. Balancing precariously on the tightrope of outwardly outrageous, Happy Slap Boutique matches circus with pyro in a stage show to leave the audience bewildered and beguiled. Racy robots, oxygen masks, breakcore and bassline are just some of the excellent eccentricities that lie in the depths of Downtown - it has to be seen to be believed…
