Hot off the heels of the full musical line up for Whistlers Green we have just released over 100 different workshops, skills and crafts that will be available completely for free up in the Whistlers Green and Kidztown areas.
Workshops and Activities:
The workshops and activities on offer range from master classes in; blacksmithing, jewellery making, rocket stove building, chainsaw carving, willow weaving, geodomes, glass blowing, pottery, to upcycling and luxurious chocolate making! As well as circus, music, play and dance workshops plus a healing area for recuperation for the mind, body and soul.
The Kidztown area hosts a plethora of learning, play and relaxing spaces. Main activities include the Forest School with Art Play Environment Project, Horwood Coombe Forest School and some additional sessions provided by experts from South Downs National Park.
The fully interactive Kidztown Street will open up for role play adventures in the Post Office, Rat-a-tat-tat Tattoo & Facepainting Parlour, The Piggy Bank and Pet Shop. The new immersive venue for Kidztown The Rusty Workshop, will teach mechanical skills, woodwork, metalwork & craft in a fully interactive workshop set.
Also new for this year is the introduction of the Science Tent, hosted by the SAW Trust, they will be bringing science focused art and creative writing, Marvellous Medicine Potion Making and the Photo-booth designed by a competition winner (competition launched at end of March)
The Krafty Kids tent will be hosting T-shirt printing, messy play, mosaic making, Super Pirates and Touretteshero workshop. Along with all the fun in the Circus Big Top with Panic Family Circus workshops; trapeze, circus skills, hula hoop, bubble making & puppet shows.
There has been a huge upgrade in the family camping area, with spacious meadows now being used and a free family shuttle running between family camping and the closest car park, as well as a dedicated shuttle throughout the duration of the festival from Kidztown to the Town Centre stage. Usual family facilities are available in Kidztown in the Baby Yurt & Lazy Lounge providing baby play, milk warming and changing facilities and under 5s soft-play. Moving on to the more musical side of thing, Kidztown’s very own main stage The Sandcastle Stage is bursting with fun, and high quality music from around the rest of the festival. From Sam & The Womp’s high energy, electro swing inspired gypsy funk to Kid Carpet’s hip hop esque disco punk, Beans on Toast’s fantastically ranting folk to parodic chap hop from Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer, this stage is specifically catered for kids as well as their adults and will host comedy, theatre, puppet shows and more throughout the day!
