Relive more incredible moments from around the city last month... ✨
Always aiming to expand on our musical horizons, this year we're exploring one of most influential musical styles on the planet, by putting jazz at the forefront of Whistlers Green's main stage, The Windmill. Featuring not one, but four, Mercury Prize nominees the line up is a great representation of current wave of new musicians taking the genres to pastures new and opening it up to a whole new generation of converted Jazz fans!
BBC6 Music’s Gilles Peterson, loop pedal extraordinaire Dub FX, pioneering dub poet, writer, social commentator and music maker Benjamin Zephaniah & Revolutionary Minds, atmospheric music, experimental four string ensemble Portico Quartet, minimalist jazz and breakbeat basslines sounds of GoGo Penguin intersect, Soweto Kinch’s carefully arranged horns bridge the gap between jazz and hip hop as well as infectious sounds of The Comet Is Coming, all female septet Nérija, Brazilian Nomad Orchestra, Cuban/Iranian quartet Ariwo and Jesse Royal’s authentic sounds of Jamaican folk represent the many strands of reggae revival artists through the festival. more details on the Windmill stage here
