‘Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much…’ Helen Keller
To ensure that we make the biggest impact we possibly can with our environmental mission, we’ve an ever growing network of partnerships with various organisations to help us implement change, advise us on the best course of action and support our messaging. Below is a bit of an overview of some of the partnerships that are helping us to make the biggest change:
A Greener Festival - a not-for-profit company, committed to helping events, festivals and venues around the world to reduce environmental impacts. AGF awarded us the ‘commended’ award ( 2/4 stars in 2018).
Energy Revolution - we are one of the founding members of Energy Revolution, a festival industry collaboration that turns your fossil-fuel travel miles into a direct investment in renewable energy. Working alongside other industry leaders such as Shambala festival and Kendal Calling.
Powerful Thinking - a think-do tank which brings together festivals, suppliers and environmental organisations to explore ways to reduce the costs and carbon.
WinACC- Winchester Action on Climate Change (WinACC) focus on combating climate change and inspiring sustainable living.. They are our key charity partner for CH11 with the £2 ticket donations directly back to them to help with their projects. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far - if you would like to to donate you can do so by clicking here.
South Downs National Park - Matterley Estate, where the festival is held, is situated within the stunning South Downs National Park (SDNP) covering 1,600km2 of breathtaking views and hidden gems. We feel so unbelievably lucky to be able to put the festival on there, and have been working very hard to ensure that we give the land the respect it so thoroughly deserves and to uphold the values and mission of the SDNP.
Butterfly Conservation - with more than 31,000 members in the UK and 32 volunteer-run Branches throughout the British Isles, they are the world's largest research institute for butterflies and moths. Butterflies and moths are a vital part of our wildlife heritage and are valuable as sensitive indicators of the health of our environment - see below for more information on our work with them.
National Express - Main travel partner helping us transport even more of our citizens safely to and from the festival with ease. In 2018 we achieved 35% of attendees using public transport - for 2019 we are aiming for 40%.
Go Car Share - one of our car share providers helping link people up across the country to ensure that no spare car seat goes unused and to further remove unnecessary car journeys.
RAW Foundation - inspire behaviour change and mobilise young people to reduce their plastic consumption and implement healthy, fair, sustainable solutions. We want a world free from single-use toxic plastics for everyone, everywhere by 2030! And their reusable stainless steel bottles are taking over the festival world and becoming the norm for many an attendee on a mission to eradicate single use plastic from their lives!
Red Fox Cycling - the team behind our Bike to Boomtown guided bike ride to the festival. Providing the adventure before the adventure!
Julie’s Bicycle - charity that supports the creative community to act on climate change and environmental sustainability. We are working with them on a project to determine how to transition festivals into the circular economy.
Nifty Bins - dedicated to helping design solutions for our immediate environmental needs and providing bins to help ensure as much waste as possible is separated to ensure recycling.
Natural Event Compost toilets & Compoost Solutions - site wide composting toilets providing a solution to waste management. Avoiding the use of chemicals, making the experience more pleasant (when used properly!) and creating a circular cycle from human waste.
