Boom Village: What is it?

In an almighty return of creativity, connection and celebration, to the Matterley Estate this August, Boom Village is an intimate, locally focussed, family camping festival with a strong and deeply rooted ethos around respecting yourself, each other and the planet at its heart.

Watch the old Village Square come alive with incredible festival bands and discover hidden forest parties playing electronic sounds from disco to dub and all in between. Discover bars serving an array of local beers, food traders offering delicious vegetarian and vegan delicacies. Meet the countless characters bringing the Village pathways to life, and find your inner character at the Sunday carnival.

What can you expect from your four days and nights exploring Boom Village?

The Village

For one special year only, our magical village will appear across the area the Boomtown attendees may recognise as ‘Hilltop’.

In the central space, meet with friends in the Bad Apple Bar before wandering through the colourful and vibrant Village Square, which will come alive with incredible festival bands; hand-picked to showcase the very best energising acts on the UK festival circuit.

Head out beyond the immaculately curated campsite dwellings lose yourself in the surrounding forest areas and discover a spectrum of electronic music.

To the other side of the central Village lies the Forgotten Valley, home to our community of healers and teachers. Here you can get involved in hands-on workshops or relax and listen to inspiring talks.

With the majority of the camping a short distance from the main arenas, villagers will be able to enjoy spacious and flat fields to set up camp with glorious views of the South Downs National Park.

Boom Village will be a playful and magical world, much like Boomtown, and certainly, one that is far more than just the music. Those who have attended any Boomtown event or show will know that we will always cover and support all styles of underground and grassroots live and electronic music.

We will handpick the perfect lineups to curate the most amazing atmosphere, but we also aspire for our audience to want to come to any event we put on due to the experience, ethos and values, rather than just artist names on a poster.

Walkabout Theatre

The village paths will be brought to life by an array of curious characters and eccentric entertainers. In this free-for-all of creative silliness, you will encounter escaped zoo animals, wandering waste, random curiosities, village games, can-can crews and generally a whole host of fun to help you find your own alter ego for the Sunday Carnival fancy dress procession!  All in attendance are encouraged to raid your wardrobes and come up with the fanciest most colourful character you’ve always wanted to be, and allow yourselves to blossom into the flower you know you can be!
