It’s impossible to put La Fleur into a box. For a start, she’s had too many twists and turns in her career to be edged into one particular corner. She actually started her working life as a pharmacist – but despite her acute understanding of laboratories, her passion was for an altogether different kind of mixing. “My choice of career came to a point where I had to choose - and I like the way it’s turned out!” It was an active choice to make music, after a trip to Berlin, she made the switch full time, both in her career and choice of home: she remains in Berlin to this day.
Building on the success of the ‘Flowerhead’ EP, her key electronic releases so far have included the ‘Nightflow’ and ‘Arms Around’ EPs (remixed by Detroit legends Kenny Larkin and Carl Craig respectively), as well as remixes for both Kerri Chandler and Sasha. And at the start of 2018, the acclaimed ‘Exhaust’ was released on Adam Beyer’s Truesoul imprint, not to mention her recent Watergate EP ‘Outbreaker’. The Mixmag Breakthrough DJ Award at the end of 2017 was well-deserved.
Back on home turf, La Fleur’s own Power Plant imprint is also important on several counts; it’s a place and space for her to nurture new, emerging talent; it’s a breeding ground not just
for music, but also for curated parties, as the special B2B with Cassy at Berns in Stockholm in Winter 2016 will attest; and it also has an offshoot as a clothing brand in the cutting-edge
Power Plant Elements collection. But as well as her own grass-roots growth, she’s also been instrumental in the rise of other events as a resident DJ; in Ibiza, she’s into the second year of her residency at Pacha’s new Labyrinth party with Hot Since 82; and in Berlin, she is a must see resident for Watergate.
And it’s not just in Europe where La Fleur has flourished; in February, she flew to Paraguay to perform for Boiler Room once again; in March, she played with Sasha on her first MMW boat party, as well as at Get Lost for Damian Lazarus; she then flew straight to Paris to perform for Cercle in the city’s Arts District, a reminder of her special French connection. And that connection continued in May when she played alongside Laurent Garnier at Oval Space, something of a dream come true. With June came an invite from Adam Beyer to play Junction2 in London, alongside a show with Adam and Ida Engberg at Pacha mid-month, before gigs at two of Germany most iconic festivals - Fusion Festival and Melt Festival.
August saw an inspiring B2B2B with B.Traits and Cassy broadcast live on BBC Radio 1 in Ibiza and she will be joined once again by B. Traits for this special set.
