King Prawn built a reputation in the late 90’s as one of the most entertaining and well respected Ska-Punk bands in the country. Their eccentric live performances and infectious blend of Punk Rock Hip Hop & ska earned them a ‘Best New British Band’ nomination at the 1998 Kerrang! Awards and again for ‘Spirit of Independence’ in 2000. In 2003 the band decided to throw their sweaty stage towels in the jaws of success with a final sell out show at London’s Forum. The decision to split at the peak of their popularity left a lasting legacy. During the interim years frontman Al Rumjen performed worldwide as vocalist for Asian Dub Foundation. The band reformed in 2013 to continue unsettled business. The line-up was expanded to a 7-piece with brass section and keyboards. Since reforming they’ve appeared on the bill at Reading & Leeds Festival Slam Dunk & Bearded Theory to name a few. Newly signed to Cherry Red Records this year sees the much anticipated release of their fifth studio album ‘The Fabulous New Sounds Of’. Their return to Boomtown Fair in 2019 promises an adrenalin-charged journey through their 26 year history together with soon to be live favourites from their current album.
