Dirty Alex is a Cardiff based hip-hop collective inspired by an intrinsic link between Jazz and Hip-Hip The result is a mixture of tight grooves, sensual jazz, stylish trumpet playing, traditional hip-hop with politically inspired lyrics.

One of the main influences is Guru’s ‘Jazzmatazz’, a project which combined the sounds of live jazz musicians with the raw energy of talented rappers. Other influences include; A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock and many other Jazz, Funk, Hip-Hop and Fusion artists.

The group has been together since early 2016 and released their debut EP 'Roadblock' later the same year. They have been working on a second EP which is due to be released spring 2019. The band have already been turning heads with support slots for Afro-Cluster, Lazy Habits, Mr. Woodnote, Children of Zeus, Dr Syntax & Pete Cannon, Chali 2na & Krafty Kutz and The Mouse Outfit to name just a few. They have played several venues in Bristol and Cardiff as well as several festivals including Truefest, Hub Fest and more recently Boomtown CH.10.
