Safe and Secure
BoomTown Fair is just about the most easy going event you will ever attend and we have never had a reported crime on site but that's not to say this won’t happen, So read on!! In any large event there is a small chance some crime will occur, by far the most common crime is theft from, or even theft of tents. We do an enormous amount to keep you safe and secure and there are many stewards and security staff to help you. You can help yourself by following the advice below, don't let the criminals disrupt your enjoyment by committing crime against you or your friends. A crime free event will ensure that there will be one next year!
Our general advice is:
- lock and totally empty your vehicles and empty and leave the glove compartment open
- only bring what you can afford to lose
- you can buy disposable cameras on site
- you don't need your ipod, we have all the best music
- try to find friends to camp near to you so you can look out for each others property
- thieves are less likely to strike when someone is there
- make friends with your neighbours so you can look out for one another
- clearly marking all your property will significantly reduce the risk of things being stolen
- bring a cheap tent from a basic camping supplier
- tag your keys with your phone number and a friends address
- don't challenge people looking through tents - report them to event staff or the Police
- report all incidents to event staff, they have radios or backup and can contact the Police if necessary
- campsite stewards are there for reporting suspicious or blatant badness, offenders WILL be expelled from site
- you are far less of a target as a group than on your own, and
- avoid dark areas and take advantage of the extra lighting along main thoroughfares and in the car parks.
When you leave your tent:
- take any valuables with you
- leave it untidy so there is not an obvious bag to grab quickly, and
- be inventive about where you hide your valuables.
