Child Safety

We want to do our best to make Boomtown a child friendly environment. As well as providing more kidsentertainment and workshops than ever we want to improve child safety at the festival.
Below is information that we hope you find useful to help keep you and your family safe so you can enjoy the festival to the full:

Crowd Safety

Although we have increased street and venue sizes this year to help with overcrowding, the festival site canstill get crowded at points and this can be dangerous for little people. If you have young children please avoid the squeeze by not bringing your children into the main arena or tentslate in the evening. If a tent looks very crowded in the daytime please do not try to squeeze in and be advisedthat stewards or security may ask you to leave and come back when it is safe. If you come into the main arenain the daytime, please note there will be a pushchair safe area to the left towards the back of the arena (orwherever we decide to put it).

Noise

The festival has amplified sound across the site. We ask you to be aware that high noise levels can bedamaging to hearing - especially to tiny ears! We would advise that hearing protection should be worn.We recommend specialist children’s ear protection such as http://www.earplugstore.com/ear-muffs-for-children.htmlDon’t stand too close to loudspeakers and limit exposure time.

Health and Hygiene

Lots of people equals lots of germs so it is more important than ever at a festival to make sure hands arewashed, especially before and after eating and after using the loo. We recommend packing some handsanitizer gel and anti-bacterial wipes as well as plenty of high factor suncream and a good first aid kit.Health advice and first aid treatment is available at the welfare tent.Baby change facilities are available in Kids Town.

Lost Children

In the excitement of a festival it is common for children to wander away from their parents. All lost children willbe taken to the lost children point located at kidz town. If you do lose your child please stay where you are fora few minutes to look around you and then report to a steward immediately so that we can find your child asquickly as possible. You should write your name and phone number on your child’s white wrist band (available from the office in the Kids Village. It is also a good idea to tell your child not to talk to strangers and to find a steward or member ofsecurity if they get lost.
